From the official forums. This is a new feature we have added in order to allow people to start playing the game sooner and patch as they play. The minimal version of the game will only download the first several hours of gameplay with the patcher, allowing you to start playing sooner but resulting in the game having to download resources during loading screens or gameplay as you go farther. The Secret World was one of the most interesting and unique MMORPG’s released and it still has a cult following to this do. So much so that EA wanted an enhanced version put out. Anyway, the original Secret World was a real gem and featured some exciting gameplay and a really cool setting that certainly made it stand out from the crowd.
