What is Bomgar? Bomgar is a device that MERIT uses to make interactive remote desktop connections to your computer. This can allow us to help configure or troubleshoot many computer issues remotely. Because it is interactive, we can either watch what you are doing on the computer, or we can remotely control the computer while you watch. We have set up Bomgar so that you must initiate the connection to us for a remote support session. If someone at MERIT indicates that they would like to hold a Bomgar session with you:

Using the Bomgar Button:

Bomgar works across a variety of platforms including Windows, Mac, Linux, SSH/Telnet, and Chrome OS. Use screen sharing and remote control to offer remote support to customers on iOS or Android devices. Plus you can use the Web Rep Console to offer support from any web browser on any computer without needing your end users to download any plug-ins or applications. R 4.1.1 binary for macOS 10.13 ( High Sierra) and higher, Intel 64-bit build, signed and notarized package. Contains R 4.1.1 framework, R.app GUI 1.77 in 64-bit for Intel Macs, Tcl/Tk 8.6.6 X11 libraries and Texinfo 6.7. If the Bomgar Button is already installed on your computer, double click on it, this will connect you into the service, you click that you approve to have a remote session with us, and one of our IT staff can then connect with you. The button will look like this on your computer:


Once you run this program, you will come to the following window:

Please click on Connect with Support Team. This will then bring you to this window:

Please click I have read and agree to the terms above and then click OK. You will now be in queue for us, and a support technician can connect with you.
If you do not have the Bomgar Button installed: For Windows computers connected to our domain, the installation of this button can be pushed to your computer. For Mac computers, or any computer not connected to our domain, you can get the installers for the Button here:

The old way still works too: you would go to http://helpdesk.education.wisc.edu/, and click on that person's name. This will start the download of a small program which you would then install (clicking through a few screens to do so), and then you could start the support session. The website would look like this:
